Meet Summer

Summer wears many hats, each contributing to the vibrant tapestry of what she envisions Sassy Face to embody for you. Juggling the roles of a devoted mother to a spirited 4-year-old boy venturing into the world of preschool, a supportive partner to her loving husband, and a caregiver to their lively trio of pets (comprising two cats and a dog), her home is a lively hub of constant amusement.

Amidst the hustle and bustle, Summer finds solace in the pages of books, her thirst for knowledge unquenchable. Music serves as the ever-present soundtrack to her days, infusing each moment with rhythm and melody. Despite her best efforts to cultivate a flourishing garden, her endeavors are often thwarted by her son's fascination with critters like roly-polys and worms. Life's seasons pass by swiftly, prompting Summer to wholeheartedly embrace each fleeting moment, fully aware of their ephemeral nature. She strives to be fully present, cherishing every experience, as she understands that these cherished memories will soon transform into wistful nostalgia.

“SFKC is all about inclusivity. Facials not only serve as a way to correct and improve skin conditions; they are also purposeful for maintaining skin health along with mental and emotional sanity, too! I consider this to be one of my favorite ways to multitask. I can’t replicate this kind of relaxation and self care at home. I get distracted by all the things that need to be done. So this has been my motivation for my services and I hope you feel more like you when you walk out of our door. ”

I'm disrupting the "anti-aging" scene

As a long-time professional in the beauty industry, I was on the hunt for a more meaningful approach to skin care – one that went beyond chemical peels and wounding gadgetry that created the fast results many have come to love. I adopted corneotherapy as the foundation of my skin care practices because my conscience was always leaving me questioning what I was really doing to my guests skin for the long haul.

Corneotherapy is a methodology that fully supports the repair and maintenance of the skin’s barrier. In addition to this, I also began Traditional Chinese Medicine esthetic studies at the beginning of 2022 and am currently training on Chinese Face Reading which applies a deeper understanding to what is displayed on the skin. Every wrinkle, nook, cranny, and area of discoloration or redness holds a tale and a much deeper meaning than just “getting older” and not using sunscreen. I craved a deeper understanding of another puzzle piece that many don’t factor in as a part of aging. Emotions. I also loved that there was a positive spin put on the lines we have come to loathe.

I have come to realize that when fast results are delivered, there is usually an opportunity to sacrifice something in exchange; your skins long term vitality. The focus became that of which purely focuses on the whole person, the root cause and rewarding the skin through touch, proper energetics via skincare and a positive perspective.

So where else was this gem that looked at the care of skin as more than just skincare?

Spoiler alert: there wasn’t one.

So, I set out to fix that. I’d love to be your new skin & brow maven.

My Story

If anyone understands the struggle for better skin, it’s Sassy Face founder Summer Serrano. While beginning her 20s with a face covered with embarrassing breakouts, Summer set out to find answers, a path that led her to fall in love with esthetics in 2003.

Her career began at Beauty Brands, where she worked for over a decade while patiently tending to her well-established guest list & crafting her plan to launch Sassy Face when the time was right. In 2015, Summer stepped out on faith and opened Sassy Face just a block away, inside Sola Salon.

Seven beautiful & busy years later and as the new mom to a sweet baby boy at the beginning of the worldwide pandemic, Summer gained an all-new understanding and appreciation for the changes women undergo. Time constraints, simplification & stress reduction, are at the forefront of her guest’s needs, not to mention her own.

Sassy Face’s philosophy fully embraces celebrating the positives & every wrinkle. It is far too easy to focus on what we want to eliminate and often challenging to see what we appreciate. Sassy Face has found that by celebrating the positives, the “imperfections” can often become minimized throughout the experience. Emotions are deeply rooted in how our skin behaves, and a change in perspective is the first step in healing the skin and bringing it back to optimal health and vibrance. You can expect to leave learning and loving something new about yourself while having a cozy retreat that you have access to when you are ready to be a part of the Sassy Face family. What's with the name

“Thanks to my beautiful grandmother and my sassy little 2 year old mouth, the nickname "Sassy Face" was brought to life. Little did I know that decades later, I would fall in love with esthetics & have the name already in place for my business. Perfect isn't it?”
